Te Kupenga Update for centre – not in rooms anymore
We have had a fun and busy month with lots of stuff going on. Our ‘Let’s get physical’ Group focus is winding down now and we are beginning activities and events with Christmas fast approaching! The children have also been enjoying water, and having the hose in the sandpit, during which time we are making ‘waterholes’ mud puddles, and awesome sand castles! The 4 year old children are also enjoying some time in the extension room, in which they have been practising letters, numbers and using their writing books. They have been producing some awesome work! Our under two friends have been enjoying climbing and testing their limits outdoors also which is awesome to watch!
Paua Room
The children are continuing on with their focus of ‘Let’s get physical’ with lots of bike riding to enhance their balance and ball games to further develop their ball skills. They have also enjoyed the challenge of learning to ride the scooter that the Watts family gave them.
They also enjoyed seeing the arrival of the Russian ruby team to the Marae.
The children really enjoyed the dance demonstration by Jan’s two grandchildren. This was followed by an impromptu dance demo from some of our children!
The most popular inside activity recently has been the many puzzles.
Pipi Room
The children have been very social recently, welcoming two new children to their room and checking out the routines of the Paua room as we have three children turning two soon. Recently we have been joining the Paua children’s mat times and really enjoyed moving with them.

our philosophy
Te Kupenga Preschool is unique in its location embedded within Omaka Marae and what makes it distinctive is......
That we believe gathering together sharing, valuing and embracing diversity, knowledge, skills and ideas secures us in our sense of Turangawaewae.
This sense of belonging supports us as a community of learners where together we foster and support the aspirations that our Te Kupenga Whanau and community have for their children, within a safe, secure and welcoming environment.
Underpinning this is an educational curriculum and programme providing holistic care, opportunities and choices for all learners.
Also within our wharekura of friendship, growth, wairua and aroha children, kaiako and whanau are empowered, supported and encouraged in working together to explore, discover and make choices, fostering skills and dispositions embracing the journey of discovery as a community of lifelong learners.
